Men’s Style Advice: White Hot Summer

It’s safe to say there wasn’t much of a spring, as summer just ushered its way in like nobody’s business. One sure fire way to keep cool, classic and fashionable is by rocking white. Whether you’re headed to a party, to work or just out on the town, there is a white ensemble that fits every facet of your personal style.

1.      A White Sneaker

A clean white sneaker is very necessary this summer, largely because of its versatility. You can wear them with shorts, sweats, jeans, and suits. With a wide variety of selections, you’re sure to find a pair that easily fits your budget.

 2.      White Jeans

Though they may be hard to keep clean, white jeans are definitely in this summer. The trick to these is finding the right fit for the occasion. Wear a skinny fit jean and dress it up with a loafer or sandal or a looser-fitting straight leg (please no boot cut fellas) and dress it down with your favorite sneaker.

  1. Fitted Tee

I’m not talking about Fruit of the Loom undershirts either. Invest in a few solid colored crew neck or V-neck that can take you from a movie date to running errands. Wearing a V-neck shows you put just a little bit extra effort into your look.  You can still be dapper and relaxed in your suit while wearing a T-shirt. Go straight from the office to happy hour to dinner.

Most Heavenly Burger EVER

 Delicatessen (NYC) hidden in plain sight right in the middle of Soho and Nolita on the corner of Prince Street and Lafayette. The drinks are never weak and everything on the menu is pretty damn exquisite. Don’t Count your calories when you go there; its decadent comfort food on steroids- event the healthier items on the menu.  My absolute favorite side items there are their 4 Cheese Mac N Cheese, Lobster Mac N Cheese from MacBar and their Signature Burger. I loved that burger so much; I tried my hand at making myself one day…and CRUSHED IT!

Here is Delicatessen’s Burger: with Ground Beef, Crispy Pork Belly, Charred Tomato, Fried Egg with Cheese Sauce on a Brioche Bun…it’s messy and gooey and decadent! It comes with all the toppings you could want and to top it off… truffle parmesan fries.  I always get a side of their mac n’ cheese. It’s overload I know but its too hard to walk out of there without having some…the takeout is just as good so do that if my way is too much….don’t judge me though! The takeout packaging comes in a plastic elbow shaped container…too cute.

Here is My Burger:  Ground Turkey, Crispy Applewood Smoked Bacon, Shredded Swiss & White Cheddar Cheese, Beef Tomato and Spinach on a Sesame Seed Bun. Hand-cut Potatoes (Fries) with Balsamic Ketchup

Here is how I season my burgers:

Ground Turkey, few splashes of Lea & Perrins Worshdishire Sauce, Lawry’s Seasoning Salt, Fresh Ground Pepper, Garlic, Red Robin Burger Seasoning. Mix and let sit for 20 minutes to let the seasoning marinate.

In a non-stick pan cook your bacon. Then use that same pan with that great bacon rendering to cook your burgers…….CAN I SAY FLAVOR!

Pat the burger patties thinner in the center to prevent dryness and cook them to a juicy medium.

After burger is done and just cover over the pan with foil or the pan lid to steam melt the cheese. Fry up an egg over easy. Lightly toast your bun of choice and lightly spray with butter

Layer it all up and ENJOY! Maybe one day I will reinvent my own 4 cheese Mac as good as MacBar does. Right now, I will just make the trip and order it to go at its kiosk store directly behind the restaurant on Prince.

Recipe: Tuscan Chicken Stew with Spinach Tortellini

tuscan chicken stew with spinach tortellini (1)-1

I am good to wipe up something tasty and re shush it to customize it my way. Here I took two dishes that could stand alone on their own as a dish and made them into one fantastic couple!

Here is the menu… try it one night

1/2 tsp fennel seed
1/2 tsp oregano leaves (fresh or dried)
1 tsp basil leaves (fresh or dried)
1 tsp garlic
1 tsp ground pepper
1 tsp dried or 1 large stem fresh rosemary (finely chopped)
1 tsp lawrys (I put it in almost every dish)
2 tsp olive oil
1.5lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 15oz can cannellini beans (or any white bean of preference) drained and
1 14oz can of diced tomatoes
1/2 cup red wine
1 bag of baby spinach (washed)
1/2 bag of collard greens (washed and rough chopped)
1 tsp salt
1 pack fresh spinach tortellini

Wash the chicken cutlets ( you can cut them in to chunks if you like but
works well in whole pieces too) and pat dry
Place in large Ziploc bag and add all seasonings
Let marinate overnight or as long as you can to let the seasonings soak in
well (one or two hour minimum is ok)
Heat skillet on medium heat with olive
Sear the chicken on both sides to get a good brown color
Remove chicken from skillet
Stir in beans, tomatoes, red wine and salt; bring to a boil
Return chicken to the skillet and add spinach and collard greens
Let simmer for 20- 30minutes or until chicken is fully cooked and greens are

In separate pot boil well salted water
Add spinach tortellini (my favorite is fresh tortellini from Trader Joe)
Its ready when it floats to the top

Drain tortellini and add to pot
This dish will taste even better day 2 after all the liquid has marinated
into the pasta
Add parmesan cheese to top the dish
